Client searched on Facebook for someone to create a custom, printable map with markers. The idea was to have it printed and wrapped in time for Christmas. Client provided low fidelity, vector map.
Working with a local shop, we were able to provide a nice 8×10 print.
the ask
8.5×11 printable map with labels that could have a small blurb of text or a unique color to the spot that’s called out by a legend / key.
The latter, a separate legend/key, with a text description, is what I’d prefer, and that would be something I could add separately in the frame via a small Word printout perhaps.
discovery
When working with the client, they had an idea what they wanted but not really how to visualize it. So I asked questions about the dates to figure out how to lay out the map with legend.
… What happened at…?
Generative AI was used to icons for create map markers, utilizing color variations to find the right blend for the provided map image. Additionally Adobe Illustrator Generative AI was used to create a very nice looking compass, which helps to offset the design.
Colors for the icons were swatched off of provided images from the client’s home.
interpretation
